EDIT: This shot is now available for print! (I received one request to put this available for printing, so I decided to upload the full res shot, just in case.)
EDIT 2: Yes, this is really an unmanipulated photo. Post production on this shot is only con/sat boost.
In this shot, blue water and yellow water are spontaneously mixed in an explosion of yellow-greens and blue-greens.
Interestingly, this was the only attempt at this shot set up. Dumb luck right out of the gate.
Glass vessel + dyed water + camera + flashes + my 5 year old + my 3 year old = an interesting experience, to put it mildly. In the end, they ended up being quite helpful. 90 min to do 15 shots with little children involved.
Such a colorful explosion. Truly unique compared to other splashes of water I have seen. Your timing was perfect capturing such a splash. I love the glow of the glass and the reflection of the glass. The black background was a perfect choice for this image. You really brought out the glowing colors. I applaud your patients.Taking images like this can be time consuming and aggravating. The crop you chosen was nicely done. Just enough open space for the water. I love how long the blue splash is. If feels like it could go forever. Clarity is lovely. Seeing each ripple and splash is breath taking. I really can't point out anything. Overall lovely work!
If I'm honest, I totally got lucky with this shot. Its as if the shot made itself, because there was 30 seconds of foresight and planning, then I just mixed up the colored water and went for it. One take. Looked good on the LCD so I moved on, not thinking at the time that it was particularly great. Later on I was very pleased at the result, though I feel as if it created itself, despite me having done the water pouring!
Thanks...
PS: Lighting on this was one 580EXII with a white reflector on opposite side.
